RCT Systems, Power Systems Division, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Electronic Hardware and control design, and applications of DSP and/or FPGA system integration. More specifically, a qualified Senior Electrical Engineer candidate will be involved in:
+ Design and testing of SiC based power electronic converter topologies including active rectifiers, isolated DC-DC converters, solid-state-transformers, and high-speed motor drives
+ Design and test DSP based digital control algorithms, FPGA modulators, and PLC based high-level system controllers
+ Detailed PCB designs including SiC gate drivers, system control PCBs, and support hardware
+ Detailed digital control PCB designs including integration of FPGAs, A/D converters, and communications protocols including CAN, RS485, Modbus, and high-speed fiber
+ Design embedded control algorithms, harmonic compensators, software PLLs, and other embedded algorithms
+ Develop Controller-Hardware-in-the-Loop test setups, control PCBs, and control algorithms
+ Experience with medium voltage power distribution, solid-state-transformers, and printed circuit board design experience highly desirable
+ Creation, review, and issuance of prototype and production level electrical drawings and schematics
+ Write and/or review EE focused patents, whitepapers, and technical conference/journal articles
+ United States Citizenship required due to US Government ITAR program restrictions
+ BS in electrical engineering, computer science, or related major required, with minimum 3.3 GPA, MS and PhDs a plus
+ Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
+ The following experience is not required, but highly desirable:
- Designing and/or controlling motor drives, ac-dc, and dc-ac converters
- High speed communications development with high performance FPGAs
- Experience programming various microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs.
- Direct work with TI C2000 DSPs and Altera FPGAs
- Hands-on experience with OPAL-RT, Typhoon, or other HIL platforms
+ High Power SiC and Silicon power device design into converters/inverters
+ MV Isolated DC-DC converters
+ FPGA and DSP development of AC-DC and DC-DC control algorithms
+ Power levels 50kW to 500kW converters/inverters that are linked together for higher power levels up in MWs
+ Typhoon and PLECS Controller-Hardware-in-the-loop development of a modular multi-level converter and real-time model implementations
+ Navy (surface & sub), Army vehicles and infrastructure, Aircraft
RCT Systems’ Power Systems Division offers a Hybrid work schedule where time can be split between working from home and in-person at the Baltimore, MD office.
