William Thierbach

In addition to his duties as Director for RCT, Mr. Thierbach is Vice President for EIG Global Energy Partners (EIG). EIG is a leading institutional investor to the global energy sector. Headquartered in Washington, DC, with offices in Houston, New York, London, and Sydney, EIG specializes in private investments in energy, energy-related infrastructure and resources and was formerly the Energy & Infrastructure Group of Trust Company of the West. During its 29-year history, EIG has invested over $11 billion in the sector through more than 260 projects or companies in 33 countries on 6 continents.

Prior to EIG, Mr. Thierbach served as Director and Chief Operations Officer for i2S, Inc., a company serving the U.S. Intelligence Community. At i2S Mr. Thierbach managed strategic growth, proposal development, and day-to-day operations.

Mr. Thierbach came to i2S from the Grosvenor Funds, a Washington, DC-based venture capital firm, where he led and participated in over 70 financings, primarily in early and growth-stage technology companies. Mr. Thierbach served as a Director and Board Observer for selected investments, conducted extensive due diligence and forensic analysis of business models, and played an active role in the operations and growth of numerous portfolio companies. Before Grosvenor, Mr. Thierbach was an information technology and strategy consultant for KPMG.

Mr. Thierbach began his civilian career after serving for 10 years in the U.S. Navy flying the F-14 Tomcat. A decorated combat veteran, Mr. Thierbach completed two combat cruises during the first Gulf War and is a graduate of the Navy’s Fighter Weapons School, "Top Gun.”

Mr. Thierbach received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his M.B.A. from The McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, where he teaches part-time as an Adjunct Lecturer in the M.B.A. program.
