Dennis P. Mahoney, p.e.
VP, Business Development

As Vice President, Business Development, Mr. Mahoney is responsible for all aspects of business capture and marketing for the Power Systems Division since joining RCT Systems/Satcon Applied Technology in 2004. A Vietnam veteran, and an Engineering Duty officer, he served for 30 years in the US Navy retiring as a Captain. Relevant tours include Chief Engineer on a Destroyer; Head Design Division, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard; Director, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Hull, Mechanical and Electrical group, responsible for all non-nuclear ship mechanical and electrical systems and components; Director NAVSEA Surface Ship Design and Systems Engineering group; Deputy Director Acquisition Career Management in the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy. He was the first Program Manager for the Zumwalt Class (DDG-1000) guided missile destroyer. He led the Naval Postgraduate School Naval/Mechanical Engineering program, and was Professor of Naval Construction and Engineering at MIT. He holds BS & MS ChemE degrees from Iowa State University, as well as SM Nuclear Eng and Ocean Eng degrees from MIT. He is a registered Professional Engineer. Mr. Mahoney is a past Vice President of the American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE), and currently serves as a member of the ASNE National Council. He was a past president of the New England section of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) and chaired the 2000 Ship Production Symposium. A Life Member of the Navy League of the United States, Mr. Mahoney is also a member of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), the Surface Navy Association, the Association of the US Army (AUSA) and Tau Beta Pi. He and his wife Nancy have five grown children and eight grand children.
